About Us

Welcome to INforming Opinions.com

In a world of 24/7 news and 140 characters, one has no excuse for not being in the know. But could the event changing our world really be contained in blurb or 30 minute news cycle? This site is a modest venture, one that hopes to provide context, insight and perspective to some of the events unfolding across the globe. It’s about turning data into information! And while this site may be different things to different people, my hope is that it becomes:

  • an open forum where students can bring their knowledge and expertise to analyze our world’s most pertinent issues
  • an online political journal that provides in-depth analysis
  • a companion to your  daily news source to help understand the headlines that are changing our world.

INforming Opinions will frequently host guest opinions by other academics and students who have unique specializations and hope that some of our readers will also become contributors. Growing our writer base will expand the site’s range of coverage and give readers a variety of perspectives on important issues. Please feel free to contact us and submit your own opinion pieces that fits the mission of the blog.

Hope you continue to enjoy the site’s content and become part of the conversation.

About Me

Born in Sri Lanka, I have had the pleasure of travelling and living across the world. Some might call me a gypsy, moving from place to place with only a suitcase, guitar and a lot of memories. This life has definitely played a role in shaping my views on politics and I am certainly richer for it. I completed high school in Dubai, U.A.E. and spent four years in the wonderful state of Minnesota, finishing my B. A. in Mass Communications, specializing in Journalism. During this time I became fascinated with the idea of “marrying” my skills as a writer and journalist with my growing interest in politics, particularly Middle Eastern politics.

Growing up, I remember “politics” as a dirty word but the reality is that we are all political, it is part of our human nature. So in 2009, I packed my bags once again and headed to the University of Windsor in Canada, where I just recently completed my M. A. in Political Science. However, I’ve discovered that education is not a destination but a journey, one that I hope to continue through INforming Opinions. This site has allowed me to continue researching and writing about my interests, keeping my ideas fresh and up-to-date. I hope my blog will continue to grow in content and excellence, remaining relevant and informative to all my readers.

INforming Opinions is just another journey and while I’m not sure where it’ll take me, I hope some of you will join the ride. Thank you for visiting and being a part of the conversation.
